What sells a home? One of the first things buyers do when they walk into a home is head for the kitchen. Some are looking for the latest updates, while others are more interested in classic charm. The kitchen is where people spend a lot of time and is an important part of a home.
For sellers needing to update their kitchen this can be a stressful project to tackle. Where do we start? Do we go modern, or try to keep the classic style? Once you figure that out, then you have to tackle the costs (appliances and granite arent cheap!). Below are three EASY ways you can give your kitchen a face lift without breaking the bank:
Update that hardware. Updating the hardware on your cabinets is an inexpensive and simple DIY project that really does make a big difference when looking at your kitchen. If you have dated knobs or handles for your cabinets (ceramic, brass, etc.) you can inexpensively update them to chrome or brushed nickel to give your cabinets that modern touch.
Touch up the cabinets. This is one of the bigger projects you will tackle in your kitchen. Replacing cabinets isnt cheap, and painting or refinishing can be a tedious job. However, if done right, makes a great impression on your visitors. Go for a neutral gray or white color if you choose to paint. If your floors are dark, go for a lighter cabinet color to create some contrast.
Let there be light! Light equals space and space equals more dollars when you sell your home. Updating the light fixtures in your kitchen can be simple and cost effective. No need to by the high end light fixtures, just as long as they match and are attractive (matching brush nickel light fixtures to your brush nickel handles is an easy win). If your lights are already updated, be sure you have bright LED bulbs in them so that they are being used to their full potential.
